There are three users on the machine, mine, my wife's and my son's. In trying to use the machine this morning, my user will not function. I was able to input my password, the mouse works, the touch screen detects any activity touches, swipes, etc.

Maybe im just trying to log in too soon i dont know? What i was doing was a quick test on password change, then testing it on the ipad to see if it logged another user out in doing so we got locked out my mistake and i take responsibility for it.

Im taking it that i need to log in via the security system for that too? Web admin says no account exists. Also for future reference whats the best way to set up a streaming account, at moment just using the admin account for everything. That is a Dahua unit. It locks an account after 3 failed login attempts in a short period of time, you just need to wait I think 30 minutes.

The user account was locked around 4pm today, its now pm and the user account is still locked. I have just tried the account for the first time since this post and The unit is used in work place and can not really be messed with till were closed now, a PC is above for the web interface but if i need a direct link the screen is in another room so it can be monitored from there.

Make sure that nothing is attempting to login all the time. If you have it set up on a computer on the network, and you changed the password on the DVR, maybe as soon as you turn it on the software tries to connect with the old password, and oooops, user locked again.

Also, you have two admin account by default. If you messed up the "admin" account, you can use the "" account to change "admin" account's password. Not had a good look at it all yet but feel it be best not to use the admin account. I think the behavior is not good to begin with, but so be it. So, I created an admin1 account with admin credentials and got everything happy again with remote software. My question is, can the original admin account be unlocked in the dvr somehow? I couldn't see how to do it. Do you have to delete it and create a new admin account?

I didn't want to delete the original admin account before knowing if it can just be unlocked. If an account is locked the only thing you can do is restart the dvr, then the account retry threshold will be reset to 3 attempts. Fail to logging with the old or new password then we can create a recovery password so you can asign a new admin password.

Oh ok. So I'll restart the Dvr and it should show unlocked. The lesson learned with this is to give your admin account a new password right away when setting up the Dvr for the first time, and before you start assigning remote software the admin account.

Short of that, if you want to change the admin account password and you know you have remote software using the account, be it phones or pss, first create a second admin account with admin credentials and log all your remote software into it. Or you can log into a user account. Then you are clear to change the original admin account password without remote software causing a conflict. Or another way to do it, you need to pull the network cable from the Dvr first, change the admin password in the Dvr, then change all remote software passwords to the new one for the admin account, then plug the network cable back in.

The odd moral of the story, set all your remote accounts passwords when you first set up a new unit, because changing passwords after the fact can be complicated. NOTE: new posts are subject to administrator approval before being displayed.

Just not during initial installation. It seems that the ivms software has a problem with the default user ID of admin being used during initial user creation.
